Making your own knives.

Post by Australianprepper1 » Wed Jan 17, 2018 9:03 am

I'm not a blacksmith but I like to try my hand at doing things myself. Here are a few photos of the process I went through making a bowie knife for my BOB. Has anyone else given this a go?

Nice looking blade, well done. My forge is not set up as yet, & I have not done any forge work since I was in school!!! But I have made knives, yes.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference.

Fortunate enough to be given a forge a few years back and I couldn't believe my luck.I've tinkered it around a bit but lately it's been so bloody dry, I haven't been game to fire her up.I will post in future some of my work.Pretty rudimentary but great fun.I use ironbark coals as a fuel source but have tried briquettes and raw coal.

Have had a bit of practice with making knives. This was my first and all hand made by file
