Redrawing the Map: How the World’s Climate Zones Are Shifting

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference.

Interesting article, Keith. It begs the questions that Australian children and grandchildren may need to relocate to a much colder latitude if they want to live in a country where food can be grown. As the article says, "the arable land at the nation’s southern edge is shrinking, and its potential for growing wheat declining."

The article which got me thinking about the coming starvation in much of the Southern hemisphere is this one from the Guardian in April https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... re-mention Mayer Hillman expects that no "fix" will be found for global warming, and that there will be mass migrations of people to Northern countries. (I suppose the migrations would be driven by crop failure, drought, extinction of animals etc.) Northern countries would try not to let the refugees in. Civilisation would collapse.

New Zealand is tightening the screws on immigration, so what is the Australian prepper to do? The bug out locations will be barren, unless they are at altitude. No kangaroos to hunt. When the tinned beans run out, what then? Underground farms? Solar powered synthetic protein factories?

Exactly Nick, people in general are taking this far too lightly.
Thanks for the link Nick, I will check it out.
Regards, Keith.

Looks like it may be even worse than the pessimists think. The BBC published this yesterday:
The world has seriously underestimated the amount of heat soaked up by our oceans over the past 25 years, researchers say.

Their study suggests that the seas have absorbed 60% more than previously thought.

They say it means the Earth is more sensitive to fossil fuel emissions than estimated.

This could make it much more difficult to keep global warming within safe levels this century.
