The Self Defence issue in Australia.
Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
Of course the laws are bullshit. But when criminals don't obey laws , the laws only handicap the sheeple. But to me the good folk are the ones that don't Live life with the blinkers on. Who dares wins.

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
Hand to hand self defence is not good enough, some people are too old for that, & men are at risk too.christef24 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 12:02 amwhat ANTI self defence laws?? all women need to learn self defence - I certainly do!
These anti self defence laws!
Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence in Australia. There are many women, raped and/or murdered, who would have been liable to prosecution had they been carrying anything that might have saved them.

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
You can defend yourself with maybe Perfume? Perfume with alcohol in it stings the eyes enough to get a chance to run.
Also get to know your environment, all around you are weapons everywhere, sticks, rocks, gutter, road, tree, plates, cups, kitchen knife ect, any object you can see with your eyes is a potential weapon.

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
The compleat lack knollage on this site is just depressing
HOW TO MAKE LEGAL TO CARRY PEPPER SRAY FOR GILS
Get a can of girly spray (Impulse works anything aluminium based )
Heat up a needle on the stove and poke it in the spray nozzle to open it out a bit so it becombes a jet instead of a mist.
Works better than pepper spray only 6feet of range 3 is better
Carry in had bag. It was just in my hand officer I saw it on a move etc
No classed as an weapon just somthing a girl would normaly have in her hand bag

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
For women yes, but not for men. The main point here is that our government has made it a crime to carry anything for self defence & for the defence of our families. Even gun owners who have a gun for a reason other than self defence are not legally allowed to use that gun to protect themselves or their family against an armed intruder. Even if you have a home invasion & the intruder is armed with a gun, you are NOT allowed to use your gun in defence!!!TrooperD wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 10:31 amThe compleat lack knollage on this site is just depressing

So why do people put up with this? Why are there not more people complaining about this? Do you think this law is okay? Are you happy to allow an armed intruder into your house & have him rape your wife & children at gun point & then shoot them?

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
No in reality they would get flat packed. But the issue is the Laws and they wont be getting changed any time soon.so you just have to find ways to work within them. Now you cant have Just a baseball bat in the house and use it but you can have a Baseball bat and a BALL and if the bat comes to hand all well and good. Same applies to an Axe but you need a wood fire to go with it. You will be charged with Common assult and you will end up in court (been there done that ) but common is far better than getting charged with premeditated assult for the price of a ball (thankfully my dog has many balls )

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
LDP are pro gun and pro self defence. A petition before parliament by the LDP was defeated to allow self defence for woman, eg the carry of non lethal means, eg pepper spray. Defeated 3 to 48 in the federal senate (19 of the 48 were woman)
Shooters Fishers and Farmers proposed the introduction of self defence with a firearm as an amendment to the act, defeated in NSW 3 to 32.
The Australian Conservatives may be worth a look. I have met Cory Bernadi, he is a member of my pistol club, very open minded on this subject.

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
It’s hard to believe we live in a country with laws that really seem to protect criminals. But we do and a change in thinking not only for the government but all the people casting there votes at election time. Not that I’ve got a great deal of confidence in the system or the party’s we have but where stuck with it for now I guess.
At the end of the day ask your self would you prefer to be judged by 12 people in a court room.
Or would you rather be carried by 6 friends to your grave
A bunch of laws don’t stop criminals from acts such as mentioned above so a law isn’t going to stop me or my family from using force deemed necessary to protect owe selves.
Just my opinion

Re: The Self Defence issue in Australia.
New guy here but an old guy in life. those who are raped/killed/robbed are those same that would not carry even if they could.
Carry laws will make very little difference in Australia. If one looks at the statistics nearly all are targeted as in relationships, illegal stuff like criminal disputes etc.
A regular law abiding person is 100 times more likely to die in a vehicle accident than from criminal action.
Compulsory helmets and six point harness's are far more important than any carry laws here in Australia. Those who keep pushing for carry laws in Aus must have some deep seated fears and paranoia and should consider councilling.
Being new here this is not aimed at anyone here but are my observations over time. To an intelligent person a firearm is just another tool to use when needed, to the retard a firearm is the solution to all things and the go to tool for everything.
I like Australia's gun laws just fine as they are, we are not the US of A, True that semi autos were great fun
