A pandemic has happened. They are not sure where it entered Australia, but it is spreading through our cities fast. People visiting the cities or visiting from the cities have spread this infection to towns.

1) At first hearing about this on the news, what is the first thing you do?
2) Thinking long term, what do you decide to do?

Yes, I think if you lived in a city or town, going bush would be your best bet.

Okay, a Pandemic has started. Some of us live in the city, others in rural towns, & yet others are already living out bush. When a pandemic strikes, given your individual situation, what are you going to do? Will it be good enough to isolate yourself in town or city? How long will your supplies last? What if you have visitors? If you go bush to isolate yourself you could still have visitors, what will you do?
From the time you hear about it on the news, there will be a certain amount of risk going out in public. Do you or other family members have a job & go to work each week day? Do you still go to work? Do you risk doing a big shopping & then go bush?
What other risks are involved especially in populated areas?

This is the key question here Keith I think. Once the news notifies people it will be all too late.

We would NOT be going to work
We would NOT be going near any people.
We would depend upon our supplies
We would board up our windows and doors with the stored PLY we have.

We would NOT hope the Government would help. We would put our action plan into...action.

If pandemic is widespread im doing what i need to in order to protect myself or my family, no questions asked. Ill also stand up for people being bullied like jesus taught us.

Now with respect to my specific location water is going to be a big issue, i have various refining techniques but am prepared for emergency situations e.g solar flare wipes out grid and a national plumbing fail will cause widespread disease. I may be required to utilise my waste water in order to survive. I would head to my buddys acreage where we have adequate stores and genetics to rebuild a pure race. Of course any supplies will be sought out by desperate naysayers who are to late to repent for there sins. These people will be judged by his holiness and dealt with accordingly. We have the means to protect ourselves with homemade booby traps and advanced martial arts and social interpretation skills.

I look forward to hearing from intelligent likeminded free humans.

Dan

As per my introductory post, the pandemic scenario and what flows on from that (disrupted services & social disorder, short and longer term), is the key large scale scenario which has been the catalyst for us to start prepping. As of this time I feel we are pretty much just at the beginning of our prepping journey in terms of research, planning and active preparation.

The government has laws in place where they can confine you to your house or otherwise restrict your movements in a pandemic situation. None too flash if you need to go to work etc.
First thing I would do is keep the kids home from school, schools, daycare etc are breeding grounds for germs.
Would I go to work, ah yes. Pandemic situation means my skillset would be in great demand.
Current supplies would last us about four months, food would be boring but nutritious. We are lucky to have productive gardens and livestock.
We would not welcome visitors at all, actively discourage it. May be difficult as we have town dwelling offspring who would not cope in this scenario. May have to convince them to come and stay with us....If I could put up with offspring's spouse without becoming homicidal :-)

Obviously you have considered the possibility that you will go to work & take the infection back home to your family, why the risk?
