On this subject about 30yrs ago i lived in the northern territory and the local government produced a pocket size book with information on bush tucker. Now i don't know if thats still available nowadays but i believe it should be every state and territories local governments responsibility to provide this information on bush tucker and how to find water sources with basic survival covering signaling and first aid information in a pocket size book and supplied at local tourism information desks in towns etc for the safety of the general public eg.travelers and backpackers etc etc this should be mandatory just in the hope it might save a life or two.And could help emergency services find these people while extending their survival time in our harsh unforgiving environment. The publication of such a book would be nothing compared to the cost and man hours used to find dead bodies.Ses should insist on this and if a small cost say $3.50 or $5.00 for the book could go back to these services I'm sure most would pay knowing it goes to a good cause and gives the purchaser invaluable information that could save their life. But to be honest like i said at the start government should be able to absorb this small cost as a duty to the public etc.
