Re: Newie Prepper NSW

Welcome, I reside in the Hunter Valley and it looks like that a few more here do too.I would like to organise a group meet and have contacted Weedseed .I thought that once Christmas and the holiday season was out of the way, then maybe this could be arranged. Now that we are pretty much into the year,...

Re: European Carp - recipes

Tried carp only the once.It wasn't a real big specimen but I bled it immediately.Putting the fish on ice straight away would have been preferable.I took the fillets off it,seasoned them and cooked them on the BBQ .I can honestly say it wasn't the worst fish I've ever eaten but despite my best effort...

If its a GSM the next couple of years will make it crystal clear. Sure is a lot of lost crops around the place right now.

Meanwhile, I'm with you Keith. Polluted. Contaminated. No matter whats going on it needs to stop! Plastic? PFOA? ..list goes on..

Re: Show Us Your Tools Being Used.

Thanks for that Keith, although my son should have watched it as he and his mate threw my hawk at an Ironbark tree and broke my Hickory handle. Easy mistake though and that was a while back and I need to helve it again.A fellow from work got me some spotted gum after I said what happened but what he...

Re: Recipes

Ate the Chilli Con Carne along with the dehydrated rice on my last trip.It reconstituted beautifully after 10 minutes soaking in cold water.Don't overdo the water though! It tasted fine and was filling enough, but lacked a little flavour so next time I will add more.Probably took about 10 mins on a l...

Re: Show us the blades you carry in the bush.

Knife 2.JPG A little more to the other extreme is not one of my bush blades but an everyday kitchen knife. My Dad gave me this old knife to restore, and it was in bad shape, literally. But being of good carbon steel, it had plenty of life left in it.As you can see in the photos,it has a rather odd ta...

Re: Show us the blades you carry in the bush.

SP53-001.jpg Fair call Keith and that is what this discussion is about. The blades you have, what is the intended use,are you happy with them (or not!) and what could make them or the carry method better. The Ontario is a very heavy knife so I added a strap to the sheath so it can be slung. The paracor...

Re: Show us the blades you carry in the bush.

Going to open up a bit of discussion here and it will be kinda like hunters talking calibres around a campfire  .Anyways, after much deliberation,I added a rather large knife to my kit.I finally got my Ontario SP53 today and by crikey it is an imposing looking blade! I had a niche for this in ...
